Sufi Affiliation:
He followed the Qadiri tariqah, which he received from Sheikh Muhammad Sadiq al-Baghdadi. In addition to this, he also acquired the Naqshbandi tariqah from one of the successors of Sheikh al-Jahan Abadi (1).
Sheikh Nur al-Din al-Badini al-Barifkani al-Qadiri wrote in one of his letters that Sheikh Husayn al-Basri received the tariqah from Sayyid al-Lahuri.

Writings:
He authored numerous works on adab (refined manners) and suluk (spiritual conduct), in which he explained several Sufi paths and mentioned the names of the chain of shaykhs from whom he acquired these paths (2).

1. al-Jahan Abadi: Kalim Allah al-Jahan Abadi ibn Nur Allah ibn Muhammad Salih al-Muhandis al-Siddiqi, one of the great masters of the Chishti tariqah (1060–1141 AH). He resided in India and the Hijaz before returning to India. He authored many books, including a Quranic commentary.
